Spring Fling 2025

The car culture here in southern CA is like no other place in this state but…
The traffic today was the worst that I have ever seen in 23 years of coming here. Everywhere I went was heavy traffic.
The roads are crap. For having the highest gasoline tax and NO SNOW, these roads should be better than this.
Left turn yield on green lights? What kind of stupid BS is this? Why are there no dedicated left turn lane signals in this town? You ever try to have a group of cars make a left turn and STAY together in this town?

sorry about the lack of left hand arrows. btw, the circling helicopters are a feature, not a bug.

Pre reg for show, hopefully my GTS can make the drive. No swap this year for me. Maybe I can park next to some other FABO members.
Have I seen your GTS? Post a pic of it. I’d love to park next to ya!

It was there last year, think you have seen it. Either way I’m going to look for the D100 to park next too unless security has they’re way :poke:
I’m on the hunt for that security girl again this year. Just FYI. The D1 is ready!

L.A. is not for the faint of heart

i was considering taking some of my parts pile up there. Anyone need a complete 273 or 340 engine? no carb or exhaust?

There is a difference between what you can take and what you WILL take.
I get annoyed easily by things that don’t have to be this way.
The traffic could be improved by actual metering of the traffic signals. Numerous times I roll up to a light and stop, only for it to suddenly turn green. I could understand if I were ripping through the street above the limit but no…
They could have the lights timed so that drivers car keep moving at a steady pace.
This is shitty civic planning, just like the crappy streets. The property taxes and sales taxes here should fund repaving and repairs of these streets. There are multi million dollar homes on streets that are comparable to a dirt road.
Today’s Malibu cruise was nice. I noticed a huge pull back of the late model cars. There used to be about 30-35% late model Challengers and Chargers but of the 35-40 cars, I saw maybe 2?
The weather was decent. The planned cruise route was great. The two people that led the cruise were friendly and did a great job.
A group of us pulled away from the sponsored lunch destination and went to Kristy’s…

With all the devastation from fires and mudslides, HWY 1 south of Malibu is but a shell of its former self. We turned north near Pepperdyne university and snaked through some beautiful scenery to get to 101 South.
Now, traffic was almost as bad as yesterday but the roads there are excellent. The scenery is epic. The rain we had left us with picturesque green hills. We’re all fortunate to have no vehicle troubles other than a brake light bulb and a squeaky power steering belt between the lot of us.
On to Bobs Big Boy tonight…

Transmission in the D 100 just took a ****. The truck will not make it to spring fling.

(apologies for potato quality pictures, light was fading)

lonnnnnggg few days but the big D is back to base and reasonably lighter. made some decent money, didn't spend but a few bucks (thanks @TT5.9mag and @valiantsurf).

the weather threatened but nothing came of that besides being overcast and it wasn't cold or windy.

reasonable turnout saturday considering the weather. swap was way light today, but totally different crowd and some really neat cars showed up.

Steve (@autoxcuda) and CPW put on a great show and work their tails off to continually improve it. if you ever have the chance to attend, you won't be disappointed!

I could only handle one day of excitement being my first time as a seller. Thank you to all that gave me support and advice! Special thanks to junkyardhero for your support and SouthBay64 it was great to meet you! I have so much more respect for the ones that do this on regular basis!
I hope to make it next year with my Barracuda to show and NOT to sell at the swapmeet!
