Are you talking about the spring beside the hood latch to pop the hood open? There isn't one. I just looked at my '66 Valiant, there isn't even a hole for one to go into. Since the car has 44,000 on the clock and hasn't been mucked about with, this must be normal. Unless it's a conspiracy. :snakeman:

before i restored it now it barely moves when i release the latch.I found
a spring lying on the bench but couldnt figure out where it went.Must of

Chrysler used a torsion bar spring arrangement to counterbalance the hood on these cars. No separate pop up springs, but there is also no support rod as it is held open by the springs.
They first relied on tighly adjusted stop bumpers to pop the hood slightly. Later they relized those rubber bumpers colapse and the hood dimples a little too so a popup spring was added.
