Starting issue...

Ok...doing some research and some thinking about this.
As I understand it, there are 2 spark conditions.
1 when cranking, and another in the "run" position.

My symptoms seem to be no spark when cranking, but spark when I let off. That's why if I'm REALLY careful, I can get it to catch and run after several tries.

Would this be a symptom of a bad starter relay or????
It wouldn't be the relay if the starter is turning over.
It could be a bad connection to the coil.
Key switch in START connects the power to the Ignition Brown wire, which connects to the coil wire J2B in the diagram.

It also connects to the yellow wires to the relay. When current flows from the yellow S2 through the NSS to ground, the relay close a switch between the stud and the solenoid feed.

When the Key is RUN, the switch connects to the blue (or blue with white) Ignition 1 wire.

Awesome guys....thanks!
I have a date with my volt meter tomorrow! !!!
I'm not very good with electrical. ..need to get better and crap like this is how.....

Jeff

This occurs even moments after running....
No ballast resistor.
I'll check for voltage at the coil when cranking....

Jeff

Still have my ballast in looks only, jumped from behind with 12awg solid wire. Pertronix is awesome!
