They have distorted threads, or sometimes a plastic insert. I would imagine they are still pretty easy to find in the junkyards. I doubt it the nut is unique to Mopars either.

Bought a die and nut from Ace Hardware, and worked out like a champ. They even had one with the nylon ring. Thanks all for the help. I'll be steering this thing again in no time.
