I am not able to do much after tearing up my ankle, so I'm trying to do small things.
I have the steering column out of my 65 Barracuda and the steering wheel is removed. I am wanting to disassemble the column in order to paint it as I am hoping to paint the car come spring.
I'm not able to walk around very well, so just doing small things to fight off boredom.

Since the column is out, you can do the rest sitting down. I posted a restore of my 65 Dart column a few years ago - power steering, floor shifter. There are a few tricks. Don't snip the wires and gomer your turn signal cable. It is easy to release the pins. The column tube secures w/ special square-head bolts. Note the heads are wider on one side. There is a ball-bearing in a rubber holder at the top you can lube. Need a cover at the bottom to block sound and fumes from the engine. Most are long-gone. Can buy new. One guy posted fitting a bearing at the end of the tube. I wire-brushed the inside of my tube w/ a long extension, then sprayed w/ Rust Destroyer. The factory apparently didn't even paint the inside.

Thanks for sharing. Now if someone will come home and bring it into the den I'll get started
