Hi FABO, I have 2 Darts. One is a 1975 2 door and the other is a 1974 4 door.

Both have a lot of play in the steering.

Does anybody have experience tightening up the play?

Is there a bushing kit that will work or do I need to replace hard parts?

Does anybody know where I can get those parts?

Thanks in advance for any help.

You'll need to determine where the play is first. Could anywhere from box coupling to draglink.

Have someone sit in the driver's seat and turn the wheel back and forth a small amount and you get under the car (with it on it's wheels) and put your hand on each steering joint and find where the looseness is located. It can be in several joints. It cna also be in the ball joints and in the control arm bushings. YOu have a lot of places to check.

Start with the steeing gear coupler (make sure there isn't play in it) and then go to the steering box adjuster and follow from there as above.

HI, the cars have all new bushings. The play is inside the steering boxes but there is no more adjustments.

I have been told there are bushings that can be replaced inside the steering box but I don't know if that will get rid of play.

I believe it is a worm gear set up and if that is so, where do I fond replacement parts for that?

I know for sure the play is inside the steering box. The steering Wheel moves but the movement is not coming out of the other end of the box.

Both of my cars are like this so I figured it was an extremely common. problem.

The box has been adjusted all it can be but there is still a lot of play in it.

Are there bushings inside the steering box that can be replaced to get rid of the play? I want to know if that is posible before I sepnd money on it, as that is what I am told by the mechanics here.
