Stop in for a cup of coffee

Good Morning All! Only thing I spun a wrench on this weekend was to fix the heater in my 89 Sub, ended up taking dash apart pretty good. After got it put back together I was finally sick enough of pawing through my hardware bin so sorted it yesterday, yard sale on the bench. I need to get some kind of hardware storage, just bins and clear plastic jars for now and I don't have enough.

Good morning, 36 and windy.

I had to wrench on the kitchen sink yesterday...

While washing some dishes, there was some dried grease on a cookie sheet that I used to put under the crock pot while I made some pulled pork... I had to melt it with hot water and rinse it down the sink...

Later into the dishes, I did the crock pot outer shell and filled it with water and soaked it... Then when I dumped it out in the sink, it sat in there and didn't drain very fast.... :BangHead:

I tried the old baking soda and vinegar trick and it didn't work... So I had to remove the trap and snake the pipe... Got a big blurb of black smelly goo on the end of the snake...

Then put it all back together and filled up 2 two quart pitchers of hot water and then dumped them in the sink to test the drain... It worked great, I had a huge funnel in the sink while the water drained really fast... The drain has never run that fast since I've been here...

Woo-Hoo I fixed it!!!!

Ouch, don't flush anything down the drain that is a semi solid at room temp. You can break it loose with hot water but as soon as the hot water cools further down the drain pipe it will turn to grease sludge again. Let's not get into the story how I know. LOL

I was going to walk it out the front door and dump it near one of my bushes like I usually do, but the grease had hardened and it took too much water to melt it back down... I would have spilled it while trying to carry it down the kitchen hallway and into the front entrance room on the way out the door once I had enough hot water to melt all of the grease...

I have a coffee can in the cupboard that I pour the gunk in. When it's full I snap the lid on and into the trash. I tried flushing some pulled pork down the drain with hot water. It plugged a pipe and I broke a pipe in the wall going to the drain vent trying to get it unplugged. The plumber had to take the dishwasher out and chisel a big hole in the wall to get to it. It was a stunt I learned a lot from.
