Stop in for a cup of coffee

Good morning everyone. Furnace isn't keeping up. Definitely a downside to old houses.

Dinner tonight at home. Shrimp rolls and some fried chicken and some fresh pineapple and some Vietnamese sugar lemon tea..

Just went out to help the neighbor get his frozen car door open.

How come your doors aren't frozen?
WD 40 on the door gaskets and everything that moves.

Water line froze up tonight but was able to thaw it out before it cracked the pipe. Looks like I'll be up every few hours tonight keeping the water from freezing. Can't leave a faucet dripping because it will freeze the sewer line real fast. Still 20 below here and I live in a mobile home so hard to keep the crawl space warm when not enough snow on the ground to insulate it.
And yes I have heat tape on the main water line.
I have been battling frozen water line for 20 years. 2 years ago i put 6 bales arond pumphouse and it seems to have solved it. One small fan inside pumphouse to move air past where lines come up through floor as well.

Worst case, i had to pull line apart and run a small pump, and push a thin water line down through the ice. Recirculated water until it thawed. Real pits, but it worked slick.

Go ahead, don’t let common sense stop ya
In my youth i recall a field trip involving spending one night winter camping. Something i dont think i ever did again.

Morning.
-30c is referred to as normal temp this time of year. Usually get 2-3 weeks of this. So a few days here and there isnt as bad as other years.

Had to boost kims car yesterday morning, it ran almost an hour, battery dead again at 5:00. So im driving her to work today, and test block heater and check battery/parasitic draw. Outside :BangHead:
Mine starts without block heater in -36. Did plug it in last night though.

Kid called the momma, her car wont start. My reply, too f’n bad. Every winter i warn her about this very thing. Get a cord, plug it in. Every winter i get a NEW battery and drive to city and get it running. Im done. I tested block heater and added a trickle charger.

well with wind chill it's 45 below here but I think Frank might be a bit colder. Doesn't matter it's just cold and the best part is, no bugs.

Yeah so do I, but I’m too old for that. I did Operation Iceberg in 2001, a combined USAF/Red Cross/FEMA SAR mission, 4 days in Feb where the high was -5 deg F. Sleeping in a surplus ww2 shelter half in the back country mountains, yep not again. Nope too old.

So I’m pretty certain I found the culprit to my high idle issue, I noticed that my TPS wasn’t going all the way against the factory idle stop, stuck about 1/8 inch away, got looking and I’d hooked up the throttle cable where it ran underneath the steering column, thus shortening it just barely to keep it from going to home. Too cold here to try starting again so I’ll wait till the weekend but 90 percent sure that was my problem.
