Stop in for a cup of coffee

At age 8 in about 1966 or 67 I was standing in the street of Norwalk California, just on the outskirts of L.A.I could see telephone poles swinging back and forth, seen a young boy fall to the ground trying to stand on crutches, my uncles naybor swimming pool flooded his kitchen and I remember watching a couple garage doors fall on cars, all with in 10 minutes I believe.
'70 I think it was, in bed before the alarm clock for school went off, that big one they had in San Fernando Valley/LA, I heard it coming :wtf:
then it about shook me out of bed  Took out freeways, the VA Hospital down there, real bad. On I 15 between the desert and LA Basin there's a big out of place rock formation called The Blue Gap, a big chunk of blue granite that just sticks up out of the ground by itself, that's sposed to be right on the San Andreas Fault and it's like 300 yards away from the highway :realcrazy:

Also, in that setting, in bum **** nowhere desert, a clear sky night would be amazing with stars from horizon to horizon.
My wife grew-up in northern MN, but has never seen the Milky Way, somehow. 9 years ago we went to the Balloon Festival in Albuquerque for our anniversary, and part of that vacation was a day-trip out to the VLA. Stayed there all day, and it started getting dark on our way back. Pitch black out, damn near the definition of middle of nowhere (has to be, for radio astronomy), no light pollution, and the Milky Way was as bright as could be. We pulled over to the side of the road, and she just looked-up and stared....

She's never forgotten that sight.

Doin' some Columbian today man!

Nice I see one being improved and not shutting down
Right?!?!

I think it’s Iowa that just passed a law that says if a race track exists prior to a house being built next to it, the track can’t be sued or modified for noise and zoning can’t be changed to force a sell.

I’m hoping Indiana follows suit with this

Took the big truck in for front tire balance to see if that would work out the vibration that'd start at about 60 MPH.

Tech said the tires were "waaaay out".

Drive home was so so much better. Handling and ride are greatly improved (for a 1 ton)

$65 bucks apiece though. Getting pricey

Either someone in the neighborhood is trying to burn some trash (against the rules here) or we are getting smoke from the wildfires. I'm closing the back door. :BangHead: :BangHead:

65 to balance?! Per tire?! Local shop here charges 14 bucks to balance per tire.

That was the one I bet, early in the morning, early!! I guess I was 12, yep, remember it well, it was a big one I heard, set in a wooden chair and feel after shocks.

The male Hummingbird that hangs around just flew over to the window, hovered for about 10 seconds looking at me, and flew off to the feeder. He may want some fresh nectar.
