Stop in for a cup of coffee

got it running a few days ago - been busy looking for a "new" truck so I haven't been back out to the garage to fiddle with it - I was JUST about to ask you how it's going with the hood on yours...!?

What no truck yet? Take your time buddy, you'll find a good one.

I have those hinges I picked up at the show, but I havent done anything with the car. I need to clean the hinges up and get them painted. Im also going to swap to a smaller carb that Dave hooked me up with to see how the engine does with it. We went camping last weekend and its kind of nice to take some time off from the car.

no truck yet - - kinda "fishing" you know? :D yea, I saw where you grabbed up that carb from Dave - I'm a little surprised really, I thought you dynoed out pretty dang good...
It is really good to get away from the car(s) sometimes.. clear your head and all that..

The 600 cfm shouldn't really change the dyno numbers any since all peak numbers came in at under 6k rpm.

It should just make it more efficient at lower rpm where the mpg numbers come from. The 750 is really just too big for that cam and especially at the 2000-4000 rpm range where mpg is determined.

It did dyno out nicely, but I want to play with a smaller carb for cruising/mpg. Then when I want fun, swap out to the other one...

Thinking I'm just gonna go efi
Yep, same here. Im really considering going with FiTech or the new one, that is supposed to give them a run, but I cant remember who that is.

You have some very good points there buddy. I guess I never thought of it that way.

I've been told that Im not going to like the Eddy carb from the Holley style that Im running. I think he was thinking on more of a performance aspect. Or he is just a Holley guy.

Probably just a Holley guy. I used to be that way until I started running the Eddy. Now I wouldn't go back if you gave me one. Holley is only best if you are running full race and want to dial it in for an extreme build where you are chasing 1/10 sec perfection...but for street w/ occasional strip use, Eddy is the way to go!

The funny thing is I had the exact same carb you hooked me up with on my car (318) when I bought it. I got rid of that carb because I was told I needed a bigger one for my 360. You have no idea how curious I am about going back to the Eddy.

I can't wait to see how you like it. Just be sure to set the idle mixture on both sides to the same number of turns from bottom (I don't remember where it was set for the hotter cam and single plane intake). 2.5-3.0 full turns out from bottom should be a good starting point.

The 360 pulls 625 cfm at 6000 rpm. Your dyno numbers hit peak HP at 5200 rpm which is 541 cfm. The 600 cfm carb should work perfectly once it's dialed in.

Have you been following the FiTech thread? I started to, last time I read it a member was having some troubles with his.
I'm pretty much sold on it after seeing it first hand on a car. Man that case just ran smooth.

Awww, the joys of learning to tune a different style carb all over again

That's actually one of the great things about the Eddy carb. Idle mixture is really all you need to dial in with a mildly built engine. The metering rods and springs in the one I gave you are already optimized for the fuel flow you need for your build.

You just need to get the idle mixture set so it doesn't load up on fuel while sitting idling in gear. Those screws don't change the throttle mixture at all, only the idle mixture. The metering rods and springs do the rest.

This is just sad. One of the guys I know got harassed off of a Lincoln Forum for putting a modern 6.4L Hemi drive train in his '62 Lincoln.

And now another guy got chased off a Javelin Forum for doing a build with a modern 5.7L Hemi drive train in a '74 Javelin.
Geez ... What's wrong with people? That witch burning mindset. That Lincoln is amazing!

Good morning, everyone!

Heya back. Just waiting for it to get light out and wake up need coffee for sure to clear the cobwebs out, did not sleep well last night for sure just kept getting up for no reason.

looks like I got some wrenching to do on my old scooter.. 1/2 way home yesterday it "blanked out" on me for a couple of seconds - again... things that make go WTF
