Stop in for a cup of coffee

I recently read that stock 340 A cars were slightly faster in the 1/4 than 383 A cars and that they handled slightly better too because of the weight difference between a small block and a big block - to even it out - call them equally optioned 69 Darts..

personally, I just like 'em.. "tighter" sound maybe - there is something about them.. maybe because they aren't supposed to make 500hp and yet...
Im helping a buddy plan out one. The biggest thing is trans selection. Every type of trans would be on the table including 518s. He's injured vet so shifting a manual is out of the question

Days gone by.
Fixed it!

Just got back from the car meet. There were probably 100 cars there during the time I was there. It was a good time, but by 11 am it was just too damned hot so I headed back home.

It was a nice hour long drive each way so it was a good shakedown trip for the GTS. Everything performed just great!

so room isn't a real concern then.. 'cause the small blocks are well, smaller, and easier to work on - especially in an A body
Yep. Biggest concerns the trans. Has to be auto. Would like to use the 518 with OD. He doesn't have the bank for a gear vendors overdrive or that'd go in and we'd just go big block.

Definitely cheaper to go small block. Now my Big blocks always beat the small blocks.
I have no doubt - what I am referring to is as built - off the lot cars - and the article said they tended to be slightly faster. You know, once you start changing things, things change.

I just found this in the corner of one of my pics from the show today. It seems like the GTS was getting some serious looks while I was on the other side of the parking lot...

I mean look at my jalopy - it's just a Scamp - on the outside. PO had a 150 shot on it - it ran high 6's in the 1/8th - small block
