I have 1/4" spacers on my truck - that is as far as I would ever go with any vehicle.. I just don't trust them when they are thicker than that. I would think you would want to do something with wheel offset too. the truth is - nothing is impossible if you have the $$ to throw at it.
of course, i need to study offsets and wheels too, theres a chance the a body rear would work
hmmmmm i may just play with the offsets since I already have the complete 8.75

Just doing what I do
I've got 3/4" spacers on the front of my GTS and could easily run a full 1". They are made for racing use on a road course.
I wouldn't hesitate to use 1" spacers on the rear and get wheels with a -25 offset. That way you get 2" per side now and can modify the spacer thickness to dial in the handling characteristics later.

ah - but you have aftermarket studs.. that makes it ok- ish. You wouldn't/couldn't even consider it with standard studs.
