Yes, they grow better for sure, and you can see where they are for the strings also, for you it is easy. I have 500 or so out there.
You mean before they sprout cut off last years? I did that. the 2 year old ones are 6"high already and most of the ones from last year are just starting to sprout.

All of our lakes and rivers are high , levy topped off
We're not quite topped yet, normally we've had two to three occasions by now of the river flooding the bottom fields, hasn't happened yet. Not a good sign

Pond is actually full right now, no fish at all, I do not like catfish it is to weird when they suck on your toes while swimming, looking to get a bunch of minnows right now and maybe some sun fish to start the process AGAIN! Not cheap to do at all.

One good thing about catfish is that after a short time the seal the bottom and it don't seep into the earth is what I learned (Book years ago) then they can be removed after a season and eaten

I did not know that might have to get a few, we did have muskrats in the pond when we first moved here but between the dog and a 22 we eliminated them, they were a pia digging into the bank.

Three years ago I stocked it with bass and sunnies, last year the fishing was great then it totally dried out so there is nothing left have to start from scratch. $$
