Stop in for a cup of coffee

Operation retrieve polara failed. Can't get the thing to roll. I think the brakes are seized. Taping the drums with a sledge didn't help. I'm gonna have to remove the drums I think. Dragging it thru the yard with a tractor probably didn't help but I have to have the wheels free rolling to climb the trailer
That sucks. Use fire on the drums.

When we went to tow the ex's 64 Dart back from it's outside storage after about 3 years, the brakes were seized also... I used my old Buick Century with the (little v-6 that could < 3.1 L >- that's what she knick named after that)...

She had the half trailer on her old Caprice full sized station wagon, and when I tried to push the Dart on the ramps of the trailer with the Buick, the Dart would push the trailer and wagon with it and I couldn't get it on... It was getting too much grip between the wheels and the ramp...

So since I was there and was determined to get it loaded and not have to come back for it again... I figured that I needed to make the ramp to tire coefficient of friction lower/slicker...

I found a can of WD-40 in the trunk of my Buick and sprayed down the ramps.... Then I was able to get the Dart to go up on the half trailer because the tires now slid on the ramps...

Then when I got it to my place, I just backed it up close to a tree, tied a rope to a tree and then to the back axle, re-lubed the ramps with WD-40 and pulled tension out from the rope and the trailer out from under the car as the tow rope held the car still....

Easy peasy....

Also can torsion bars weaken over time? It has hemi torsion bars in it from just suspension. And just suspension over spring shocks under it. According to the barely readable labels.

Yes, torsion bars are simply linear springs, using the non-permanent deformation of the metal to act as a spring... As with any springs when not stored in their free state, they will fatigue under load and loose some of their stiffness and eventually crack...

And as the saying goes -crack kills.... :realcrazy:

Mornin' Karl.
Good morning Anders, yes that was a 5 hundred dollor winning ticket

Well good for you, Mike!

I just sent a request for a valve seat cutting kit from India on eBay. They're very cheap and look like they could actually work with 'carbide' inserts and such.

We'll see what they respond. They really only need to hold up for my one set of heads - I'll save a lot of money not having the job done by a machine shop if turns out ok.

They wanted $750 to go to 2.02" on the intakes, touch up all 16 seats and put in 8 new guides. The kit from India is less than $350 which is what their 40 piece kit costs.

Time consuming but it pays good as you enjoy spending time on your own stuff Good luck and take a little off at a time

I could! If I wasn't heading back out the door to work in a few minutes...
Good Morning
I hear that !! No work for me today, well if you count floor grouting here on the hill :wtf: Can't stop now can we

Mornin, Gents! I hope everyone has an outstanding day today.

We struggled in the first round of qualifying last night. The car left straight and carried the wheels 200ft, and banged the rev limiter hard at 8,000. Car does not want to shift out of 1st gear and when it does, it wants to go to 3rd. IN the past, that has always meant sprag damage to me. :( Not feeling good about this morning, but we will mess with the air shifter and try again or shift it manually.
Also is puking a little fluid every pass out the the remote trans vent and it never did that before. Lowered fluid level and made no difference. I bet it is hurt.

600 square feet of tile is down !! Half is grouted in, cold outside and and two big bundles of wood was delivered yesterday, 2 grand for a bunch of 12 foot material for the shop walls.
This olfart is going to take this day off :elmer:
