It's a 30 minute round trip from house to store to house.
I usually buy what I think I might need to try and save another trip with the thought I'll take it back later.
That usually doesn't happen goes in a drawer.

When I redid my whole bathroom last summer, I easily had 20+ trips between Ace, Home Depot and Lowes.
And most of it had to be ordered.

I have gotten better at returning, but I do have quite an inventory of stuff. No matter how much I have, there's never enough there to actually complete the next job though.

We are required to give students some homework on doing a case study or an event, it is part of the curriculum content. It will be a very interesting training day on Monday as a result of the incident in Virginia and the six year old. I have a feeling our students may pay very close attention.

My latest 'multiple hardware trips' project is lighting. Trying to improve in a few areas that are poorly lit. Dining area was actually still incandescent bulbs had to be over 3 years old. A bunch of the pig tail flourescents are looking really dingy dim yellow. Still have not resolved a flicker in the bathroom with 'dimmable' LED's. Used to be so simple when all you had to choose was the wattage. LOL

Morning home plumbers. cold and foggy here. I lost track of the dogs for a little bit on our walk. Back inside for some mini wheats and coffee, then into town to shop for some carpet.
Six-year-old with a gun would be a tough one to come up on.

I have most of the lights in the house changed over to LED. We have a ton of lamps and lights. Our old house has big overhangs and it get's pretty dark in here. I leave a lot of lamps on overnight in case I wake up and come downstairs. Some are dimmable and a few 3 ways mixed in with the standard ones.

I got a bunch of LED at HD -their Ecosmart brand. The soft white is 2700k and looks too yellow. Bright white is 3000k and still somewhat yellow but works for most. Daylight jumps to 5000k and starts looking blue. I thought they used to have 4100k - which to me is the best actual white light that I want for 'office' area... Gonna check other brands.
Let me go look at mine. I get the Wal Mart cheapies. If they crap out I take them back for warranty.
Yes... I have to plan before the runs into town. The Notes app is great. I keep multiple lists by category... then it's triage by distance. Small NAPA... local hardware.... big box. Advantage of the big box is I can check inventory through the app. Works well except when you're not sure what it is you need or if you're trying to fix something old and it requires a bit of redneck engineering

Mine are soft white 2700k. I think they look closer to the standard bulbs. My MIL uses the 5000k ones. I can't stand those in a ceiling light.

I use the high lumen ones in the bathrooms... mid-range in the multiple bulb fixtures and the old school looking Edison bulbs in the Den. Surprising variety out there now. I scored a bunch off the clearance shelf at Lowes a while back and they're decent for general use.
That one shocked me this morning. More shocking still would be if it comes out that teacher molested the student at some point, it happens. What a world.
We have a lot of multi bulb ceiling fixtures. Candelabra base bulbs. LED's work good last a lot longer, and don't get hot. That reminds me, I need to horse the 8' step ladder in here and change the ones out and clean the fixture on the staircase landing.

My stoopidvisor bought a large quantity of the first gen LEDs for the rock farm. I think he was more interested in the sales rep than he was in the light bulbs, she was very attractive 
. The asphalt plant I operated has a 600' long tunnel to provide 5 different materials for the different kinds of black top. It's dark in there 24/7. The tunnel was made with railroad tank cars welded end to end 
. It makes sense if ya think about it 
. Those LEDs projected one little bright spot on the opposite side of the tunnel and did nothing to light the work area and only lasted 90 days maybe. Being inspected by 2 OSHAs the lighting had to be protected just like a mine, glass enclosure with a protective metal cage over that. Those cages were 9"? deep so most anyting would fit in there. I found that the screw in flourescents had the longest life span some as long as 5 years. What can I say? When I was the oiler/fireman I had some time on my hands and soapstone in my pocket. When I replaced a bulb I put the date on the tunnel wall

That would freak you out seeing that coming at you at highway speeds.
