Work has a free app called Vessel View Mobile me and my boy use. Handy and has GPS speed in large numbers for a quick look

If not using it I would get something stronger like a rubber freeze out plug that will lock on there.

Could he use any speedometer housing and gear just not hook it up? May be the most secure way

That is what I was thinking...............I don't want to remove my old one, so it is with the trans when I sell it.

I was wondering that also. Cant find a good picture.

That will work. Make sure you change the inner and outer seal if it is a used housing.

after looking, getting housing will still be open though. The gear will not be in there and still let crud into it. Better off with a more substantial plug.

Mine has the housing and gear but no cable in my auto. I think the gear plugs the oil leak through the center.

Can anyone help confirm??

Do you have the factory spacer between the pump and pulley? Both my polys with iron pumps had a 1/4 inch spacer between the pulley and the flange of the water pump

The spacer goes between the pulley and the fan, not the pulley and water pump... The pulley goes directly to the water pump...

Swapped in a cast iron water pump (driver side discharge)

Using the early timing chain cover with timing bracket (passenger side)

Water pump pulley is correct... seems the crank pulley I have is not

Yes, you have the correct water pump/fan pulley...

You need the correct crank pulley...

I believe they all have a clamp that holds them in. They don't screw it. Also, I do believe that the manual transmission ones are the same as the automatic transmission ones
