Stop in for a cup of coffee

Those are paczkis (pronounced punch-key)...

They are a Polish tradition... They eat them on "Fat Tuesday"...

View attachment 1716365649

Huge tradition in Detroit because there is a large Polish population in Hamtramck... I wasn't far from there and Paczkis were delicious.... Jelly or cream filled doughnuts, about 1200 calories each, but really good...

There's a Polish Deli near me also... Known for their fresh home made sausages made fresh every day... They have every kind of sausage you can think of and even some you can't... Llithuanian , Polish, Italian in mild or spicy, wedding sausage, smoked, some pre-cooked, some cook yourself...

They also bake fresh rolls... If you get there at the right time the rolls are still hot from the oven when you take them out of the bin....

They also sell other deli meats, like a slab of bacon cooked with onions on top, you slice yourself...
Their stuff is so fresh... sometimes that say... I like to go there in the summer when my farmstand is open, buy some mild and hot raw Italian Sausage, some fresh rolls, then go to the local farm stand and buy fresh onions and green peppers... Take them all home and bake the sausages, and fry the peppers and onions and make me fresh sandwiches with some mustard... Everything in the sandwich is less than 24 hours fresh...

That reminds me of Bobaks. That is where we used to get all the sausage products from. Not sure if it is as good as when the old man owned it years ago.

Yep, when you hear one of your joints pop, you know it's bad...

It's like Rice Crispies, if you hear a snap, crackle, or pop, you are in trouble...
About 20 pops when i put my socks on in the morning. Getting very difficult..

maybe we'll toss this in or spend another Saturday checking this out. YUM!

You will like them, they are at 87th and Ridgeland avenue...

When you go, let me know what you think... They are so authentic Polish, they even speak Polish...

However I don't speak Polish and they also speak English...

I guarantee, you will get carried away and spend more than you planned when you go, it's so good... Be sure to get some of the fresh rolls...

Water line thawed. Used a pail, 12 volt pump and a booster back. 6” of blockage. Im thinking plugged filters, slow water flow allowed ice to build up. Now i need to go get filters, dog went out and wont come back inside. Being a but of an A-Hole this morning..

This time off is proving hard on my credit card, just ordered my fuel tank and sender from Tanksinc. Never heard of them till I poked around the threads, thanks TMM!!! So now that's Espo Springs and the gas tank, will keep listening for sure as I don't know dammit!

29 years ago today, after sweating and being nervous all day, I stopped by my then girlfriend's house and asked her to marry me. Today, we are celebrating that anniversary.
( I figured that asking on the 13th would mean that eventually, a celebration would take place on a Friday...he-he-he )

A woman awakes in the middle of the night to find her husband not in bed.

She puts on her robe and goes downstairs to look for him. She finds him sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of hot cocoa in front of him. He appears to be in deep thought, just staring at the wall.

She watches as he wipes away a tear from his eye. "What's the matter, dear?" she whispers as she steps into the room.... "Why are you down here at this time of night!?"

The husband looks up from his drink, "It's the 20th Anniversary of the day we met."

She can't believe he has remembered and starts to tear up. The husband continues, "Do you remember 20 years ago when we started dating? I was 18 and you were only 15," he said solemnly.

Once again, the wife is touched to tears thinking that her husband is so caring and sensitive. "Yes, I do" she replies.

The husband pauses....... The words were not coming easily. "Do you remember when your father caught us in the back seat of my car?"

"Yes, I remember" said the wife, lowering herself into a chair beside him.

The husband continued. "Do you remember when he shoved the shotgun in my face and said, Either you marry my daughter or I will make sure you spend the next 20 years in prison?"

"I remember that, too" she replied softly...

He sighed as he wiped another tear away from his cheek and said, "I would have gotten out today."

That's pretty cool history, like the part where the fire department shows up lol!
My Step Dad grew up in Bridgeport (IIRC) and told the story of Franky Bobak bringing free sausage sample plates into the bars they hung out in, to get the name and word out. All employees spoke in Polish the whole time also. I was never there to witness and experience it.

We thats a great idea

The snow moving is done here. I might go to the Downing House and get that done this afternoon. It's kind of a turd because there's not a good place to blow the snow on half the driveway. The neighbor's drive is just a few feet away on the left side.

Finally!
Water is running, filters changed. Trudging through the snow 30 feet to pumphouse carrying stuff about did me in. Thinking a tee and a valve to make that thawing easier.. i see i have some fitting to change on the main water line, as soon as weather warms up..

Don't forget, tomorrow is Valentines Day. Don't forget your sweetie. Sometimes it looks like they don't appreciate it but you'll hear about it for years to come if you don't.  :BangHead::BangHead:
