Do you know what that material is you can get up there that packs like pavement....I think it's either from shale (Frack) or limestone processing??
The road base we made at our granite quarry in the next county was like that. It's mostly the crush count on the stone that aids the compaction. Funny, an asphalt job I did here where we mined the river, I had to add stone from the granite quarry to raise the crush count. Too many crushed round rocks from the river material. They did an asphalt job up there and had to add our crushed river rocks to their granite because their granite was softer/more fragile than our river rocks :realcrazy: . Gotta love them highway engineers

They did an asphalt overlay job here recently, They didn't want to add to the elevation of the asphalt so they had to grind. Half the grindings got shipped away, the other half they screened it, warmed it up, added some sort of oil product, laid it back down with a paver and rolled it out for a leveling course. Next course was good plant mixed AC to finish it off. Looks great, curious to see how long it lasts.

That's how they resurface roads here.
Total crap

Tasting is done. Now on to Valentines Day. Wonder when the wife will make it home from work?

Magnus was on top, Barrel, Woodinville, Coppercraft Bourbon, Coppercraft Rye, and the Beam Winter Reserve. All were good, some were better. At the bottom of the pile, the Beam was a nice sipper. Not bad for 30 bucks.

I think I'll post on the "Stop in for a drink" thread just in case.

They used very little steel when I was doing concrete paving. Like two pieces in 40' wide paving. They have really increased that from what I have seen in the new stuff they have put down in LA area.
You need it here in Iowa. Lots of frost heaves. Every expansion joint get's a cage. Rebar is probably 1" diameter.

Roads are **** here from the frost heaves right now. When it warms up the dirt roads will split open and not uncommon to see a big hole in the road.
