Best way to ensure all main bearing metal material is out of a turbo…. I’m thinking soaking it in mineral spirit and then blowing out with an air compressor, thoughts?
You probably know, dont spool it up while you are blowibg it out. I agree with mineral spirits. I overhauled a turbo once, a 86 lebaron gts, a tablespoon of parts, mechanical/ceamic seals and a couple bushings if i recall. And it actually worked when i was done. Waste gate and egr vacuum hoses on that car are the same size, btw.Best way to ensure all main bearing metal material is out of a turbo…. Oh my !! That Buick is a great engine, and this truck warms my spirit this morning, absolutely love it
350 Buick. Must have been laying around. Thosw were noted for low oil pressure problems. I worked at the Buick dealer for 12 years starting in 77. Lot of issues. All because of the oil pump housing in the aluminum front cover. A little wear and you have an oil light flickering on at idle hot. In fact, we even stocked a OP sender that would turn the light on at 0# instead of 5 # or 10# like a standard sensor. The used car Dept. used a lot of those.Oh my !! Wow ! Leared something already today, I can say the 71 Doutless v6 was a strong and longevity engine, witch was the Buick, Jeep owners and even farmers that used the jeepsters for many years, in 71 my Camando had all kinds of features, a pto (many never even knew was there) farmers ran water pumps and I knew one farmer in Florida that rigged a did witch in his, only started it up when it was time to re-set water pipe 4 inch diameter by 20 aluminum once every 3 years, a plant would give good harvest for 3 years.350 Buick. Looks good. All I'm having is Pizza for dinner.
Got back and checked other lights. Got high beam switch unstuck. Others OK. Try wipers ,,, Moves 6 inches, POP! Wipers stop and motor continued to run. Almost guaranteed the plastic bushing on drive arm blew out. Plus one of the rubber blades fell off.
No way I'm doing anything under dash right now. I keep thinking I'll fix a few things and sell it, but the list is getting longer instead of shorter. Dancers from the Club?Mango Magic, Sweet Heat, and some brown sugar.

Like us guys say, "I'd eat that"

Something about that just isn't right. It needs grey smoke colored wheels. Probably came with body colored with dog dish. The trim rings just don't work. Neither does the luggage rack.
I turned the smoker up to 250° and I will pull them off at around 205° (internal temp) and finish them in the crock pot with Sweet Hickory BBQ from Cookies (an Iowa company). I might add some brown sugar too.Start, rub down, (que Karl) smoker, 1 hour in, 2 hours in, 3 hours in, 4 hours in. They are about 120° at 4 hours. I'll turn the smoker up to 250° and pull them at around 205° or so. I will finish them up in the crock pot with sauce.
