Stop in for a cup of coffee

I think this one and others like it make the best pit bikes, I seen three men my age and older using them at Pettit Jean Mountain swap meet and they had smiles and good conversation to share, happy folks for sure.
My buddy sold a go kart to his 70 year old neighbor. He rips it around the neighborhood, even had other old people say aren't you to old for that. Never to old to have fun I'd say.

Read an interesting article in the Hagerty magazine about the high end sports cars from the late 80s and 90s that will be dead in the water because the software can't be updated. Some even require 3G phone networks to update...
I read that also. wonder how long before the next generation arrives that does away with 5G. will there be retrofit kits for those vehicles to use newer version? planned obsolescence?

We live in a neighborhood that circles a pond, and the local kids treat the road like their own private track for the minibikes and go-carts. Last time I saw a go-cart wizz by I told my wife, "that looks like fun". To which she responded something like, "act your age".

Hearing about a 70 year old who guy has one just gave me the "ammunition" I'm looking for, thanks!

I knew a 4H club dad that put a Snapper rear motor riding lawn mower drivetrain in a go cart. You know, the one with the 6 horse vertical engine and the spinning disc transmission. Heck it even had neutral and reverse. 5 forward gears I believe. He had to lock it out of 4th and 5th because it went too fast the way he had it geared. (up to about 60 on the road)

When I was racing karts in the 80s we had a club member in his 70s and he used to kick our go kart asses on a pretty regular basis

Speaking of small engines, I can hear someone on our block mowing their yard. It's a 4 stroke but it is just screaming. It probably has a stick jammed in the governor linkage. It must be spinning 5 or 6,000 r's.

If it's a Kohler "Command" 17.5 HP motor, have them give me a call, as more than likely it's just broken. I had to replace mine this past spring, and it's a pretty simple repair.

My 22hp Kohler ate the plastic cam gear after 800 hrs. I rebuilt the engine. John Deere 445
Mine has only 325 hours or so, but the dang governor is built pretty cheaply. I guess it's a "known issue" on the 17.5 HP engines, and parts are available everywhere online.

The governor in mine was the same as yours. The rebuild kit gave a new gear for that, so I used it.... BTW.. I replaced the plastic cam gear with a steel one....

Speaking of small engines (again) I should adjust the valves on my Kawasaki sometime. She's a little loud when it warms up.

It was a little creepy to see the photos. But hey, I found out I was a perfect azzhole!  (and that's a good thing)
My dad had a card laying on the counter once with several small COLORED pictures on it. I mistakenly asked what it was. He said “It’s the inside of my azzhole! Pretty clean isn’t it????” :(

I didn't know that a steel gear was an option. Then again, it was the pin and weights that broke (bent, actually), not the gear.

Next time, though.....

Mixed up a batch of summer sausage. (It is summer after all)
It makes 4 logs. I will smoke 2 and bake 2 just to see what works better.
80/20 ground beef, coarse ground pepper, minced garlic, Tender Quick curing salt, liquid smoke, and mustard seed.
