Yup. That's right there in the "sweet spot".

I swear they're either making the rotors thinner (I haven't looked at the Specs), the pads harder (ditto), or they're just using crappier ("softer") metal (which is what I'm thinking). Regardless of which it is, warped front rotors at 40k miles, on a lightly used vehicle, is BS, plain and simple.
Rotor warpage, sticky brake pads or calipers, overtorqued wheels. Typically these are the main causes.
