Stop in for a cup of coffee

I was operating the primary crusher long ago, where the process begins for aggregate production. River bed to loader bucket to haul truck to crusher. I used to get some odd bits coming through that primary feeder  Got a crusty single action revolver stuck on the magnet one day . Railroad debris was common since the little local rail ran through that part of the river. Got about 1/3 of the front sheet metal from a Jeep CJ2 one day

score! Hard to get now

Thankfully my three months is up, and today is the day I get shots in my knees again.

Walk with a limp on the way in, and walk normal (more or less) on the way out.

Very surprised on that. Mitch uses crushed concrete and tell you what it packs down great. Cannot find it locally.
with the interstate project nearby, INDOT has been buying up all the roadbase material they can get their hands on. I had this stuff hauled in from Louisville about 60 miles away

If they're replacing the old concrete paving on that interstate and crushing the debris to base, good chance no steel in that base. They didn't start using steel in the paving until 10 years ago or so.

That can’t be cheap.

And now you get the honor of doing it again, eh?

Sorry to hear this. Really.

Got a revised delivery of today from Mancini, oil pan and timing cover bolts. Not complaining as they have been pretty speedy with what I’ve ordered so far

Good morning, finally getting back to work on the 63. I need to get it done to make room for my brothers Corvette coming home with me next fall.

Went to an auction today.

17.50 for all 3 of these is a decent deal. Plus another 2.50 for a working 1hp dual wheel Sears brand bench grinder and 2.00 for a heavy duty, hand built out of what appears to be Birch work bench. Then I got 19 Kennedy half dollar coins for 5.00.

Mainly went to try and buy a painting done by my late great-grandmother. Managed to score it but paid 60 for it. Actually the highest selling art work there.

CHECK those Kennedy halves!!
65 to 69 are 40% silver, and worth about $5 each, melt value.
You might have bought $50 or $60 worth of silver for five bucks!

Good morning and Merry Christmas, all!
Up since 1:30, went out with the dogs to potty, couldn't get back to sleep till about 4, woke up by the dogs again, a half hour ago.....
COME ON JOHN, THE SUN'S UP, ITS PLAY TIME!!!

Edit: and about 40° . First time I remember that they all wanted to go in before I did.

Pardon me for not knowing. ....
Bad knee (or knees), obviously. Have you had em replaced, or considered it ? At least five of my friends, including the gf, have had one or more done, everybody says they should have done it sooner.

No, that was just for the base materials. The finishing stuff I can get locally still fairly cheap. I’ve got 13,000 in stone in that driveway so far

Ouch!

Looks like I may have to haul-in around 25-30 yards of Class 5 next spring to remove a dip in my driveway, thus removing the pitch of the hill going up to the house. I don't have the tools or machinery to do it myself (yet?), but since I'm planning on retiring sometime next year, and we're doing about $40-$50k worth of structural repairs and remodel on the place, my chances of buying a small tractor or bobcat to do this are somewhere between "slim" and "none".

Unless I win the lottery....

But since I never buy a ticket....

yeah, well, that included the labor for the driveway contractor too, so the actual stone cost was just over 10K. 900 ft driveway, 12 feet wide.
