storing tires

I picked up a slightly used pair of MT ET streets a few weeks ago. It's going to be a few months before I get some wheels to mount them on. What is the best way to store these in the meantime? They developed a slight flat spot (temporary) when sitting upright on the tread for a few days, so it seems that's not the right way.
