strange trans issue

Over the last months of warm weather my old Valiant developed an intermitant problem. Sometimes when stopped at a stop sign or light the trans would act like its popping out of gear. If I rev the engine a little it goes back into gear or if I dont notice and go to take off it snaps into gear. The fluid is ok and it doesnt slip. Any advice?

Rebuild time.
Worn clearances and hardening rubber seals.
Setting the throttle preassure higher might help for awhile.

Actually, admitting we were powerless over our addiction is the first step.

Well, I certainly am, and occasionally I see signs that a couple of folks who hang around here may have a similar condition... ENJOY!!!

I'd try a filter & fluid change 1st. I have a budy east of you who specializes in moper transmissions & is reasonable

Whats the name of his business? Im not going to be able to do it soon but hopefully sometime over the summer

It's not idling too slow, is it? See if turning up the idle helps at all too. That's a bit of a "crutch" but hey.....if it buys you another year....

Maybe an additive could help if you're not in a position financially to do a rebuild right now.
