Hi,
I recently bought a 67 notchback with a 360 (I checked) and was wondering why someone would use a Edelbrock Streetmaster 318 intake on it. It has 587 heads with 1.88 valves. Should I be looking to upgrade this to a dual plane as I will not be seeing more than 5500rpm. Or are the small runners on the streetmaster 318 a good fit for a 360?

Thanks........That's what I thought but wanted some input. Why anyone would use a single plane on a "street" motor is against everything I have learned over the years....

I would, but not that one. Alot depends on the build and target goal of the car.

For example, a single plane intake on the street is going to loose torque against a dual plane. Like a RPM.

IF your build is more street light bandit like thinking and you do not care about mid level or less (RPM wise, 3000/3500 or less) torque, then a TorkerII or a M1 single plane will be the ticket.

This would be a build like a very high stall converter and gear set along with a large cam that has a power band starting at about 3000/3500 RPM...or so.

Understood........I guess what I meant by street motor is nobody (me) wants a motor that starts to come alive at 3000+. I have built a few sbc street motors with both single plane and dual plane applications and much prefer the grunt at low and midrange of a dual plane. Lots of money to be building 6000+rpm engines. We all know that.
Heck, My ole love, My 68 notchback ran low 14's with a 318,loose converter,276 open 7.25 rear with a weiand action plus. Wonder why I went back to mopars?

Ha ha ha, about the same reason I never looked back from screwing around with Chevy's. I never found low 12's so freakin easy!

Gotta love them A bodies.......already light and easy to make even lighter.....lots and lots of fun.....I suspect thats why we all love'em.........and all else hate us.
