I have to replace the lower strut rods on my 74 Dodge Dart. My question is do I have to remove the disc brake assembly when you take the lower arm off.
Your input is welcome.
Thank you in advanced.......................Ted

If you separate the lower ball joint from the lower control arm or unbolt it from the spindle you can leave the brakes alone. You may want to hold the entire UCA/spindle/brake assembly higher than just letting it sit on the bump stop.

Are you installing adjustable LCA’s or just replacing the stock ones? Some adjustable strut rods can be installed without sliding the LCA back, so depending on what else you’re doing you might be able to skip a few steps of suspension disassembly…

I pop the upper ball joint, I think its easier.

My procedure is: undo front strut rod nuts, undo rear nuts, undo pivot shaft nuts, pop T bars out, pop upper ball joint, slide the whole shebang back a couple of inches, then replace bushing

You might take the shock out, it makes things easier. I rest the bottom of the lower arm on a piece of wood.
