Hey guys and gals I'm looking to either super charge my 225 or switch to a 360-380 what so you think I should do? And which one would be cheaper?
Am I wrong? I'd think a turbo off a Cummins / ram would be just right for a slant
A turbo takes no horsepower to drive, a supercharger does.
Also what parts do I need for a supercharger or a turbo and what brand will give me the best bang for my buck? And could I find a reliable one at a junkyard?
I know they can be pricy, but has anyone here done a centrifugal blown Slant?
The problem with all the new blowers is the teflon coating, it comes off with fuel and then you lose something like 10-20% efficiency...
This. Plus the fact that if you try to get around it the plumbing can get ugly. Also with a turbo the initial buy in isn't so bad. I think the idea above of crossing under the motor to use passenger side "real estate" is the way to go.
As far as size... It'll be hard to find something OEM. Maybe something used from a hopped up import. Make sure to get a carb set up for blow thru, or build a sealed carb box.
No matter what you do it will take a ton of fab work so if you can't weld.....:banghead:
