try ya donut in opposite direction than ya chevy/ford...mopars weaker side opposite from them...
Gramps? I guess I could be? Whats your Grandma's name? I asked a question in post 11. You'll know when I'm trolling? What ever that is?
That's a good thought. I normally go counter-clockwise for center-of-gravity reasons, but I'll try going clockwise.try ya donut in opposite direction than ya chevy/ford...mopars weaker side opposite from them...

sounds like one tire barely spinning other getting most the power and spinning real good then probably wore out differential or its a limited slip diff!! could have wrong grease in it or old grease not working the posi right...bout all it could be...

I have a 1972 dart with the big block treatment and a 5 speed Tremec. I put an 8 3/4 a body rear end in it with suregrip. I also had it rebuilt. is that with a 2.95, or deeper low gear?
It's very fun, but I think it's not working right or maybe it is and I dont understand how it should work.
I can't do donuts. My Mustang and Chevelle will kick the rearend out and slide around in circles until I get dizzy, but not the Dart. It tries to kick out a little (maybe six inches sideways) and then suddenly stops. At that point it still spins the tires, but only in a straight line.So it's still spinning both tires? If yes than the LSD is working right.
Is my Suregrip broken or is that how they work? NO! That is not how they work. And it's not broken if both wheels are spinning.
If the car quits rotating it may be that the wheel speed is too little or too much. If you have a high number rear gear like 4.30s, and coupled with a 2.95 or greater low gear, this is a starter gear in excess of 12.7, great for drag-racing, but not so much for donuts; you just can't get enough wheelspeed to maintain the slide. If I'm, right, then the easy fix is using second gear. This will get you a donut gear of about 8.2. So with a big block, you just break then loose and dial in the revs ,only as much as it takes, you should have enough torque by 3500 to initiate a nice donut at about 50% left steer. Then adjust the throttle so as not to overspeed the maneuver. Then tighten up the circle, and reduce the throttle, til the wheels are just howling not screaming. Do a couple of lefties then snap the steering wheel over hard right while simultaneously increasing the Rs a bit. As she begins the right hand circle, reduce throttle until the tires are just howling again. If the car is too fast in transitioning left to right, it will want to swing the tail out, and stop rotating. If it transitions too slow, it will stop altogether and try to power ahead, and you get to start over. Rightees are tougher, cuz the engine torque is trying to lift the inside rear wheel, and BBs have a lot of torque. It works better with HD rear shocks, that slow that corner from lifting. Soft rear springs are no help either. A really big front sway-bar will make rightees easier as will big T-bars. Skinny tires suck at this, 275/60s are better, 295/50s are great. A line-loc is a great help to getting the tires up to speed. You just set the front brakes, bust the tires loose, get the wheelspeed up a bit, release the brakes, launch ahead a couple of feet and dial in some left steer, then; Hang on!
