1972 plymouth duster with 275-60-15 bfgoodrich radial t/as and am looking to go to coil over suspension currently have air shocks. I need to know what your opinion on lift and brand.

Why do you want coilovers?

Only way more guaranteed to trash the upper shock mounts than air shocks. Also raising and stiffening the rear suspension is the quickest way to screw up traction and handling at the same time. BUT it gives the car that retro 70's "butts-up" look (there was a similar porno magazine trend at the same time).

All joking aside, this really isn't a good idea.

What do you recommend? I need lift and stiffness so tires don't rub.

What is the rim:
  • Diameter?:
  • Width?:
  • Backspace or Offset?:

How to measure backspace:

https://www.rsracing.com/TechWheel.aspx

Items required to measure wheel backspace:
•Tape measure
•Straight edge
•Wheel w/o tire (preferred)

The easiest way to measure backspace is to lay the wheel face down onto the ground so the backside of the wheel is facing up. Take a straight edge and lay it diagonally across the inboard flange of the wheel. Take a tape measure and measure the distance from where the straight edge contacts the inboard flange to the hub mounting pad of the wheel. This measurement is backspace. The above photo shows three wheels with 2",3", & 4" backspace.

Only rubs when the air shocks get low on turns

How much room do you have on the inside fenderwell at the top?

Those are 3.75" backspace rims. If you have room on the inside, you need 4.5" backspacing. That will move the outside edge that is rubbing inwards 3/4".

IF you have redrilled small bolt pattern axles; they are about 3/16-1/4" narrower and you should get 4.25" backspace rims.

You get the right rims and you don't have to buy a $1700 rear coil over suspension. That would not help these rims fit properly at all anyways.

I agree go the cheaper route - I'm doing offset hangers/shackles (moves leafs in 3/4"), SS springs, 68-70 B body 8 3/4, and rolling the outer fender lip to fit 275/60's on a 15x8 wheel (with 5.5" or so backspace)
