    Hi Guys,
Just thought you might find this interesting. This is what you get when you have too much time on your hands and you start bull crapping. Me and my buddy Larry were hanging around my garage last summer and I was telling him how a lot of guys were putting turbos on slants and getting amazing results. Then it happened, what would the results be if we put turbos on a 318? And my buddy can never just stop there......... er.... what would it be like if we put twin turbos on a 318??? Hmmmmmm. Well that's how it started. He is currently building a stroker 440 but in the meantime we are building this. The plan is to transfer the turbos to the stroker when it's ready. He is considering Fitech dual quad fuel injection or may go with blow through carbs but the cost for them along with a different ignition with timing control/ retard is getting close to the cost of the Fitech. More pictures to come, enjoy.

I will keep you guys updated. It's been quite a process to date. He bought a set of Chevy headers, we had to cut the flames off, reshape the tubes and then weld on the Mopar flanges. Filling in the gaps with welds and finally grinding the excess welds both inside and out. Here is what we started with. 20161016_205010.jpg

Yeah he's really good with details. I am sure that he will make the engine compartment look great.

Nice build! Love the truck. Question. Why not a single carb? You have enough open real estate in that engine compartment to plumb a jacuzzi. Merging both turbos to a single carb hat wouldn't be difficult. Probably splice an intercooler in there also.

There is an intercooler being installed and it's setup for the twin turbos. My buddy is adamant about the dual carbs or dual EFI (he knows he doesn't need that much carburetion but it's the wow factor he's looking for. We have already discussed what a PIA the dual carb/EFI will be. The one problem is going to be getting the passenger exhaust past the heater box/blower assembly and the master cylinder on the driver's side. He is going to have to ace the power brakes and possibly use an offset mount for the master cylinder. I will update this thread this weekend. He is coming over on Friday and Saturday.

Not sure about the horsepower but I knowill that he's going to have to limit his boost to around 8 psi. This is a stock bottom end and this is only a temporary setup until his stroked 440 is ready. I would think that 400 hp would be attainable. Now how long Itime will hold up, that's another story .

Okay, so we didn't get as much done over the weekend as we would have liked. My buddy didn't come over on Friday and with repeated runs for parts and tools it really slowed us down. We managed to get the intercooler mounted and one of the exhaust pipes tacked into place. Here are the pictures. Okay,
So here's the update for the weekend. Last week we finished modifying the Chevy headers, welding on the Mopar flanges and mounting the intercooler. The 3" holes in the rad support were an SOB to cut. We had to but a 3" hole saw from Lowe's at about $30.00. This weekend we fabricated the exhaust. Not easy but after measuring, installing tacking, removing and reinstalling we wound up with what you see here. We are trying to find a reasonably priced master cylinder with the connections on the left side as it's going to be a tight fit. We already know that power brakes are out. Enjoy the pics. Ok,
So here's your weekend update. IMG_20161210_131719955-2672x1503.jpg
We decided to work on the cold side plumbing. Even though we debured everything my buddy Larry still managed to get cut on the tubing somehow.

IMG_20161210_133932666-2672x1503.jpg Passenger side cools side tubing cut and in place. We aren't going to put the clamps on because everything (including the header flanges on both sides) still need gaskets installed so all of this will have to come apart. IMG_20161210_131742444-2672x1503.jpg Driver's side cold plumbing in place. At this point we were out of tubing so we didn't complete the connections to the carb hats. I am not sure, since my buddy doesn't have the carbs or fuel injection he's going to need for this project, whether it's even a good idea to try to run it.

Carbs are going to take almost as much money as fuel injection when you consider he's going to need an ignition box capable of retarding the timing as boost comes in. I think he's also waiting to see how my FiTech fuel injection works on my car, but I won't get back to tuning it (and the thread that goes with it) until next spring because we are working on his truck. By the way, notice the square orange block on the firewall. We are going to put something there. Oh and by the way, the reason it's orange is that this used to be a VDOT truck. IMG_20161210_175410492-2672x1503.jpg
My buddy Larry found this AWESOME LOOKING master cylinder online for $75.00. It makes my $200.00 Wilwood look bad. We found that after installing down pipe for the exhaust that the master was WAY too close to the pipe. This meant adjusting the master's location and moving the line connections from the left side to the right. This master also has connections on both sides with plugs to cap the unused ports. We had to make a aluminum block off plate and we also had to use a saws- all and die grinder to cut the firewall hole about an inch higher. This gave us plenty of clearance from the down pipe. We now had to find a long enough push rod from the petal to the master. Even after looking at my old push rod a a few universal pieces I had laying around we still couldn't make anything work. At this point we started loo at the power brake booster we had laying on the floor. Do you know how HARD it is to get that rod out of that booster? It doesn't just snap in like a ball and socket nooooooo, this would involve a saws- all, hamer and pry bars. The rod worked but we had to put a slight bend in it to get the angle of the rod and piston correct. We are now having issues with the connections to the master. It seems that Ma Mopar used 2 different threads on the front and back resevoits. Only one connection fits properly so we will have to Iron this one out. We are either going to replace the lines or cut the ends off and use a flaring tool to put new ends on.

Well, that's your weekend report, see you all next weekend.

Well we got the cold side pipes done and mocked into place. We took the fan, water pump and timing cover off of the engine. We decided that it would be a pain in the ass to remove the oil pan so we could install the fittings for the turbo oil returns. We are going to use a drill and tap to tread to fuel pump block off plate for the passenger side turbo and just tap the timing cover for the driver's side. We hit the brick wall trying to find a 1/2 inch NPT tap.We will pick it back up next weekend. Enjoy the pictures.

              You know,
There is a Harbor Freight about a mile from my house. We found out that it closes at 7:00 PM
I can't believe they close that early. I just talked to my buddy tonight and he told me he ordered the stuff we needed on Sunday from Summit and it arrived today, now that's service. I will post on Friday as he is coming over on Thursday so we can work on it.

I always thought it would be awesome to have a twin turbo twin carb, i was thinking of a nice big block with the cross ram intake all plumbed up. But this is just as awesome, it's different and that makes it cool.
