Glutton for Punishment
I am in the process of rebuilding the 904 that I am going to put into my 71 Dart project. Upon disassembly, I saw that the finger plate for the overrun clutch (sprag) had several fingers that were bent. I found and got a new, bolt-in replacement for the sprag. I have drilled off the heads of the rivets from the tail housing side of the case and I am trying to drive them out. My question(s) is this . . . how hard do I need to pound on these rivets to drive them out? I have been at it a while and I am making some progress, but not much. I don't want to go all Hulk Hogan on them if I'm doing something wrong. Do the two dowels in holes that weren't filled with rivets need to come out as well or are they just there for alignment? The replacement sprag (from A&A Transmission) outer race is drilled and threaded for all seven holes, but there were only 5 bolts supplied with the part. Thanks for any help you guys can provide!
