Thermoquad Intake Question ?

Morning guys. I am installing an OEM thermoquad intake on my 340. The intake has a sensor or something protruding out of the floor on one side. ( I believe it may mave something to do with the EGR valve ???) Just wondering if this would hurt performance to any degree. Should I take it out and weld the hole shut or am I just wasting my time. Sorry didn't have time to take a pic.

Hey C. On the plenums floor, that item can be screwed out and pluged. The hurt on performance is minimal. But removal wold be a max effort not really showing a "BIG" gain at all.

The EGR gas is a inert gas that doesn't put a hurting on performance and allows more timing. When you push the gas pedal down and vacuum falls, the EGR valve closes and theres no flow through the floor jet. You should also have a hole in the floor of the plenum on the otherside. This is also a EGR port.

I wasn't really worried about the exh gases so mush, but was worried about air flow and maybe air turbualnce in the plenum. I don't know much about air flow in an intake so I thought I'd just ask. It was ok for Chrysler so I guess it will be ok for me. I just want as much out of it as I can get. Ha Ha.

They are the floor jets... it's where teh EGR gasses come out when the valve is functional. You can remove them and stick pipe plugs in them or I've seen steel caps (like a freeze plug) driven into them. Just make sure whatever you use seals the holes... And dont use JB weld or anythign that could vibrate loose and be inhaled.

update;
dave and i didnt get together. both of busy. anyways, trying to get ready fro oct racing, found 2 plugs damage. borescope saw nothing. change plugs and #6 broke plug again. no compression. this car has fought me all year long.
winters coming, will disect the sucker and make my changes i didnt do last yr.
dave, i'm still looking for those mopar intakes :toothy10:
