Harrier flew into Mesa Gateway yesterday destined for the CAF museum at Falcon Field in Mesa. I’d image it will take awhile to demilitarize it.

Used to live in St. Charles in the 80's and go to the big airshow on the river before it became the VP. Most memorable flyby was a B1 with wings swept forward coming low and slow down the river, barely above the Eads Bridge and definitely below the top of the arch. When it got to the viewing area at Laclede's Landing, it lit the afterburners and started to accelerate out of the. I swear I could feel that power in my soul. Absolutely stunning.I remember as a kid going to the 4th of July celebrations at the Gateway Arch in St.Louis. ( Now called the veiled prophet fair for some odd reason). Anyway McDonnell Douglas (Now Boeing) used to put on quite an air show in conjunction over the Mississippi River Front by the Arch. They brought in a Harrier and it hovered over the river and lowered down blowing around a 50 foot diameter hole in the river. Very impressive.
In the mid 1970s I was a hotel/airport limo driver in St. Louis. Got to park on the tarmac to pick up passengers sometimes, depending on their pick-up location. Those F-15s would make a short take-off run then shoot straight up! Very impressive and LOUD!Used to live in St. Charles in the 80's and go to the big airshow on the river before it became the VP. Used to love sitting at the airport early in the morning waiting to fly somewhere and watching the F15s from the McDonnel Douglas / Boeing factory on the other side doing unrestricted takeoffs for test flights.
Lots and LOTS of Brit WWII AC and our Mustang, just a few and used in boats and tanks as wellRR doesn’t use RR engines they use BMWs…
There have probably been more RR aircraft engines produced than RR automotive engines.
I forgot about boats, I saw a video of a yacht tour and it had RR engines. It was an elegant old yacht from the thirties or forties and very cool.Lots and LOTS of Brit WWII AC and our Mustang, just a few and used in boats and tanks as well
