So! This is the newly rebuilt engine…. That the Weiand Stealth came on.
Thread on that here -> A Weird Weiand (sb)

This rates as “Out!- STANDING” & left to sit in the rain for an unknown amount of time.

Ready to run my BUTT!
5 gallons of water came out before any oil.
There wasn’t much of that ether.

On the good side, the timing chain is brand spanking new. Nice and tight!
The cam is in good shape. I was told it is a Lunati bracket master. I’m going to look up the numbers now.

That's terrible. Reminds me of a 69 Barracuda FB I went to look at 20 years ago. I answered an add in the paper (maybe it was more than 20 yrs ago, lol). I called the guy and he told me it had bad damage to one rear quarter from an accident, but he had another good quarter. That was true. Then I asked him about rust, and he said, "you can eat off the floors of this car." After a 1 1/2 hr. drive, my Dad and I looked at the car. It was sitting outside in the weeds, and weeds were growing up through all the rot in the floors.

Here are the cam numbers on the end. It doesn’t match up to a Lunati exactly. Only 1 number off. The first number on the cam seems to be a number 2 and the catalog has a number 1.

The old tried and true .480/230 street cam. Been around for 6 decades or so.:) Used quite a few myself back in the day on a lot of different brands.

As far as the engine, "If" the machine work and measurements were done correctly, Would a through cleaning, some cam bearings and maybe a quick deglaze get that baby back in business?

OMG. I always say that when someone sells an engine like that, they need to PROVE that it is really in good condition, or they get offered core price for it.

Cam looks like it's never been run.
That is correct. Never run. Just installed and lubed, ready to be fired up and broken in.

I have heard of people saying good things about that cam but never tried it myself. I was always after more aggressive grinds. This one, should last a million years. It’s easy on the lobes and springs.

A quick cleaning ????
I think so. But I’m choke full of engine I want to build based on the 340. One will get a forged 3.58 stroke and the other I have a 3.45 stroke crank with rods and pistons. I’ll have to have a machinist check if the bore is good enough now for what I have to drop it in and run.

It was in the truck all sealed up minus the carb.

In the late 60's & 70's all the brick & mortar speed shops sold that type grind to all the hydraulic muscle car guys for a upgrade. 9+ comp, common at the time, mid 3 gears and with all the bolt on's made for a pretty decent ride on the street

I'd rather buy an old greasy virgin motor with 100,000+ miles on it than any "rebuilt" motor. Used to see that kind of stuff all the time. Wow, so sad.

Yep! I’ll take it down later and see what’s what when the time comes, whenever that is. Bigger fish to fry.
