Hey, science classes can be cool.
My Montebello Jr. High science teacher used to keep small corked bottles of helium that he'd hold over a bunsen burner and shoot the cork at a student that wasn't paying attention in class. You can't do that today.
He also would do thermite burns out in front of the school resulting in a 30-foot tall mushroom cloud stopping traffic on Whittier Blvd.
In HS physics class we used to study wave motion by stretching out Slinkys on the hall floor. One person would hold one end still and the person on the other end would shake the Slinky causing the wave to move the length of the stretched Slinky, reflect off of the stationary end and head back to the originator. Of course the warning was always for nobody to let loose of the stretched Slinky - which always ended with somebody having to untangle several Slinkys after they were turned loose.
