I don't understand how that post is in such good shape.

On my grandfather's ranch, he took (1/4 inch) thick oil field pipe, filled it with concrete & set the pipe SIX feet deep into colechee (sp?) clay (like decomposed granite- I had to dig the holes) -all used to protect a part of his property where cars drove too fast around a bend-when it was wet, they destroyed those posts & themselves.

That square post looks like it is only concrete with perhaps a frame inside.

We had to do the same....and our road is a 2 mile straight away lots of speed, people swerve and smack it all the time.
 
Per earlier post . Wish the girl in 64 dart that died from impact with tree was that protected.
