Anyone have the surgery to fix it?? Heard this really f**cked up tearing sound the other day. Have no strength in my left arm, a high amount of pain and a funny looking lump. Went to the surgeon that I was going to have fix the slap tear in my shoulder next year & she said that just looking at my arm and based on my symptoms I tore the bicep.......she said it does not look like I completely severed it. So I decided to get it fixed sooner rather than later. So anyone go thru this?? She said to expect to be in a sling for 6-8 weeks, with therapy starting just a few days post surgery......

i was thinkin i had something similar but it ended up being i wore thru 50% of the cartilage in my elbow...

so now instead of being a soft "lubed" surface its more like a hard sponge... lol...

Tore my right arm bicep a few years back, I didn't do the operation. Excerised and it's fine now. I'm right handed and I bowl 2 nights a week, using a screw driver hurts but everything else is no problem. My surgeon suggested I try to build the other muscles , it worked. He didn't think the operation was a good idea. Getting older ain't for sissys!

She told me that if it was not for the slap tear it would not be a big problem. She is a bit concerned that I very well may have also did some damage to the rotator cuff.

About three years ago I took a bad fall ice climbing and tore my bicep off my lower arm. The tendon tore off the bone. The only way to fix this is surgery. A partial tear will heal without surgery a total detachment from the bone will not. A tell tale sign is a large lump in the upper part of the bicep because it rolls up your arm when it isn't attached. Your biceps main function is to allow you to twist your hand from palm up to palm down. It's called supination. The bending of your elbow is accomplished by other muscles and the bicep greatly aids this. After the surgery I was in a sling for 4-6 weeks than slowly rehabbed myself. It took about 6 months to be 100% back to normal. I would seriously suggest surgery if you have a total tear. Otherwise you will never be the same. My suggestion is really don't use it after surgery let it heal. Than when given the ok put 100% into rehab and you will be glad down the road.

My buddy, one bad *** Italian, decided to carry a sload of ceramic tiles by himself and tore his bicep. Had the operation...all better now. I bent one of those sissor jacks that came with my Magnum and this guy bent it back into shape with his bare hands.
