I have a Schumacher torque strap, I have been told that there has been issues with them holding if there is to much hp. I also am running an alter k, so the mount plate provided doesn't work. I have gotten mixed answers on whether I should run some sort of strap or not. I will be @ 650 hp with solid mounts. I appreciate any input.

I ve been using the Schumacher strap for 3 seasons now on my street/strip duster,no problems i'm also using their poly-loc soild mounts which are the cats arse...

Your using BOTH?!? Sounds like the Dept. of Redundancy Dept.....

The Poly-Loc's are designed to mechanically hold together in case the isolating portion cracks, splits, dis-intergrates, etc... The torque strap is a good idea for ANY 4 spd. car just to prevent the Z bar from binding at the wrong time if your rubber mounts let go. For a street car I'd just run the torque strap with a new set of rubber mounts. If your running 650 HP I'd go with the Poly-Loc's. The torque strap is designed to insulate engine vibration while adding safety. The Poly's will nail it in one spot. As for it fitting an Alter-K frame, I'd ask someone who is running one.

Here's a picture of a torque strap mounted on a stock K frame:

Then again, you could always just buy a turn-buckle at the hardware store and fab up mounts....and save $$$$$ 8)

Thats right i 'm running both..2 seasons ago i had installed new motor mounts and tore them both in half, even with the strap!! the guy at Schumacher did'nt know what to say but gave me a deal on the poly-locs so in they went problem solved..

1966 Valiant 340 4-speed, stock rubber mounts, I run a Schumacher tourqe strap, works sweet!
