U-haul has some pretty strict guidleines these days as far as GVWR's and trailer weight etc before they'll cut you loose with one. It might not really be an option. U haul, never again for me after sitting on the side of I95 for 3 hours and the clown they sent shows up with a loose tire, tire irons, and a can of ether.

Don't know if you have Pods up there but my sister is moving from Alabama to California and they are sitting a pod in her yard for her to load and then they will transport it to California and sit it at new house for her to unload. She will have it a week here and allow two weeks for travel then another week to unload. Total cost for the month rent and move is $2200. I could not believe it but there again I couldn't believe she sold 30 acres of our family farm with 10 acre lake and beautiful home to move to Santa Rosa into a 55 plus community with neighbor 3 ft on each side

yeah we have moving pods up here but they cost quite a bit more ,the 3k +gas for the uhaul moving van and tow dolly is cheaper , I may end up doing that when I do the actual move .Right now this summer I am looking to get some stuff I have stored here out of my garage in case the big move ends up coming sooner than I want .Cambodian tire has some light utility trailers on for a good price just not sure about the tires etc holding up for 5000km lol , I'm going to stop in and see a friend who manages one of the stores here and see what his supplier docs say about them .

The problem with shipping is I am going to only be at the other end for a couple of brief periods , 5 days in June and 10-11 days in August , but they always give you a 2-4 week delivery window with no guaranteed delivery date just a delivered before date that doesn't do me any good if it shows up after I fly back or before I fly in .

Then I would buy something like a 6x12 trailer that has car tires instead the small diameter tires. With those small tires the bearings are whizzing so the larger the diameter the slower your bearings are turning. Then every time you make the trip you can take some stuff or go pickup building materials for the house. It will really pay for itself and then if you didn't think you needed it after house was finished you could sell.

You hit the nail on the head with the tire size that has been the thing holding me back on buying a small utility trailer . I can't see those tiny little tires holding up for a 5000 km trip lol , I'm at the point where I'm either going to just drive the Cuda and leave the stuff for a later trip then use a small Uhaul van to move everything at once or getting the small van now and biting the bullet and renting the car hauler from them at the same time and pulling the car with their truck . Probably going with option 1 .It doesn't save me much because if you add the trailer to the rental it is real cheap like 150 bucks for the week but if I am flexible about the when I may be able to get a return truck during slack times since so many people move west and few move back east leaving a butt load of "One way rental" trucks piled up at the local uhaul agents .Often you can get the truck for next to nothing just to get it back to where it came from for the next wave of western migrants .

Those little canuck tire trailers are flimsy at best.
I wouldnt trust it for 5000 kms.
Consider buying an enclosed trailer, and sell it when you are done. Same for a car trailer.

yeah I've been looking we'll see , I'm not in any panic to move my stuff I still have more than 2 years on the contract with work so the big move can happen any time really , I'm going to go chat with the local uhaul agent and see if I can't get my name on his list of return drivers for returning trucks to eastern Canada assuming he has such a thing , I also drove a car cross country in the eighties for a shipping company and I'm going to see if I can find their local agent as well , maybe I can score a pickup truck that needs to be shipped back east somewhere and use that to haul the motor and stuff . Last time I got paid a couple of hundred towards the fuel to drive a Datsun 280Z from Toronto to Calgary .

I did Drag Week on a Princess Auto set of trailer tires and axle... one tire went flat on day 3 so I hit it with a can of fix a flat to keep going. We never went over 60mph with the trailer but the bearings would get pretty hot after about 50 miles of driving.... I would not recommend an across Canada trip with small tires.
We have towed a 6x12 enclosed to Kelowna from Winnipeg behind a 74 LTD a few times and it can get interesting in the mountains both going up and also coming down some of the steep sections...

Just grease the bearings before your trip. They will be ok as long as you do not overload the trailer. I pulled a little Harbor freight trailer all over at all kinds of speed with no issues. But not overloaded.

I just have to crack up reading this thread. When a Mopar guy says he has to move all I can think of is the time I rented a big Uhaul box truck to move.
The damn thing wouldnt go over 50 mph ! When I told the rental agent about it he said he has had that truck well over 60 mph.... What he didnt realize is that my load consisted
