Does anybody have a measurement or a point of reference they use when lining up the tail shaft of the transmission to make sure the play in the u joint is where it's supposeed to be and the angle of the driveshaft is set to the pinion on the center housing of the rear?

I have some play from left to right when mounting the transmission to the X member and being that the X member is aftermarket the hole has been slotted, so looking to keep the angle from binding.

2 degrees opposing. Maybe what you ought to do is mount the trans and take some measurements. The motor should look straight in the compartment and that set the trans, just adj up n down from there. Am I missing something?

I am not looking for the angle of up and down, I am looking for the left to right. The engine is straight but the tail shaft can move about maybe .5 to 1.5 inches left to right. I have an aftermarket K member as well.

Square the motor in the compartment the rest should follow and set where it should be side to side. You can put a square on the yolk and string it to see...for the fun of it.. or split the diff of .5 and 1.5.
Id square the motor and let it settle from there.
