Trans tunnel space

I seem to have read, that the 1967 A-body trans tunnel was smaller than the 1968 & up A-bodies.

Any truth to that?

My '67 Barracuda is filled up with a 904 & no room for a trans shield or blanket.

The '71 Demon has a lot of room, my friends 1968 Barracuda has a shield on a 727.

The 66 I'm sure was smaller, but 67-76 should be the same underpinnings.

I have a 69 Barracuda and I've been trying to patch the trans tunnel. I've tried 3 different A-body tunnels from the early 70's. None are the same as mine. Mine is more narrow and shallow. I'm guessing the 68-69 floor pans are unique. Anyone else know?

70 Dart custom (more door)
small block/727, with shield had to raise the floor

72 Dart Swinger
Big Block/ 518 with shield
Knew I had to raise the floor at the cross member area.

That's what I'm thinking of doing with mine, making my own tunnel.

Trans tunnel is the same stamping from 67-up. They enlarged it that year to fit the 727 that went with the 383.
Its still a tight squeeze for a blanket or shield. Howard has the best idea.

haven't measured or fitted yet,
the csi appears taller and wider

Will there be any clearance issue between the factory floor and shield

want to install the eng/trans with either shield
don't want to pull it back out to create clearance at the floor

did some more checking
tci will set inside the csi, the mounting bolt are 1" difference (csi taller)

csi wider
csi bottom shield (wider, front to rear) covers more area.
tsi upper shield wider (front to rear) covers more toward the front

I used the TCI- in the 70 Dart> SB/727
the CSI fit the 518 better,also cleared the JW bell better (for Big Block) since I had to make room for the over drive, It didn't matter it was taller and fatter>> LOL

front floor pans, needed replacing.(rust)
that area is still stock,
only the tunnel is raised
