Is there a difference between transmission cooler lines for an A Body Barracuda 904 vs727? Will be buying from Mancini.

I have been searching, they may be the same. If you are buying from Mancini, ask them.

They use the same fittings, I’ve confirmed that much. I was able to thread my 1974 904 Slant 6 lines onto my 1970 Big Block 727 while it was out of the car. I need to see if I can make them work in the car now.

InlineTube has the same part number for both 904 and 727.

Difference is whether it is /6 or V8 and whether you want stainless or OE steel.

The fittings are the same and at the same location on both transmissions. The 904 lines should work or be close enough to make work.

Or...get a tube bender and flare tool and make your own. I think the reason many people don't do this is they purchase pre-flared ends and the fittings are not the same or the length is too short or too long. You can re-use the old fittings and flare where it needs to be on a long peice. Lots of flare tools out there but I would recommend the draw type as opposed to the squeeze handle type. You can take Tig weld rod and bend up a mockup of what you want and then bend it on the bench. Don't forget to install the fitting nut first before you flare!

This manual will give you an idea of how to use a bender accurately (as opposed to having no idea where the bend will be). Keep in mind cheaper benders may vary as to where the marks are and of course, the smaller the mandrel size, the tighter the bend and vice versa.

Thanks for the information. I’m going to use the stainless steel lines from Mancini if they are available.

A lot of people talking of SS lines not sealing well / easily, mostly heard it in brake lines.

I replaced my trans lines on the '72 with the replacement steel. They were difficult enough to deal with, no way I personally would go SS.

The last 3 cars I did, I ran the steel lines up the drivers side frame rail behind the steering box. I had steel braided flex lines made to go to the transmission on that end and used bulkhead fittings thru the radiator support under the battery tray area. Then from the front side of the bulkhead connectors, I bent steel line going to the trans cooler that had fittings instead of hose barbs.
Not a solution for a concourse resto, but it works good on hot rods because it gets them out of the way of headers/exhaust. It also makes life easier if you have to change a starter.
