Trouble with torsion bar

Trying to install torsion bars after replacing lower control arm bushings. I bolted everything back up and when I put the torsion bars back in the arm that the adjustment bolt for ride height pushes up was jammed against the block that the adjustment bolt goes through. What is procedure for installing the torsion bars after you have replaced the bushings?

I can't quote proceedure from a service manual. There is a free FSM download available here somewhere.
I always remove the bump stop from under the upper arm and have the strut rod loosened so the whole assembly drops down further. With the ajust bolts backed out as far as possible yet still engaged with the adjust finger the bar will slide out and back in again. I dont know exactly how you took it apart. Hope this helps

When I removed the torsion bar, I did not remove the bump stop frome the upper control arm. This morning I tore down the left side, following the service manual, and reinstalled everything, following the service manual. There is a small amout of clearance between the adjustment bolt block and the arm the bolt pushes turns the torsion bar. Next I went to the right side and tore it down, following the service manual. When I jack the lower control arm up to install the bump stop and then remove the jack, the arm that turns the torsion bar is resting against the adjustment bolt block, and the upper control arm is resting on the bump stop. Is this the way it should be?

Took front end apart again and put together as per service manual. Everything seems to be alright. Took car in for frontend alignment this morning.
