Truck Dipstick Tube Help Needed

The slant 6 trucks had at last two different styles of rear sump oil pans. One, where the dipstick tube inserts into the side of the oil pan and another where the dipstick inserts into the block, like conventional car engines do. I am needing the length of the dipstick tube for the truck engine that takes the dipstick tube that inserts into the block. A picture would help, too. @halfafish ? Maybe you have one? This is not a parts wanted thread. I can easily make a tube. I just need the measurements.

Sorry Sir, mine goes into the side of the oil pan.
 
I have never seen the rear sump truck pan, that didn't have the tube as part of the pan. Of course I have not seen many truck pans. How is the dipstick guided to the rear sump, when using the block mounted stick?
 
You could always do the measured amount of oil in the pan/engine

Put in a random length of tube and then your dip stick .

Measure the distance from the full to the level you measured.

The difference is the amount to lengthen or shorten the tube

Since YOU said that, it made me go look. True to form with my luck, if something is obscure, oddball, has no value and no one wants it, that's the kinda stuff I end up with. It's a front sump pan. I didn't even pay attention. At least I have the correct obscure, oddball, has no value and no one wants it oil pickup with it. lol

Oh, yeah, I forgot that....don't own any & don't know anybody that does.....now that I've said that one will pop up & try taking what little $$$$ I have left.......lol..
Yeah. I figure at least I have both styles of pans now, so if a sack of money falls on my head and if I find a decent truck I'll have a pan regardless of the year model. I also got the 11" bellhousing, flywheel, clutch and pressure plate.

Mine has the stupid cast iron bell that has the trans mounts on it
You need to remove the clutch and flywheel to get to the top bell housing bolts from the inside...pia when the motor is stuck..thing has to weigh 40 lb

Mine is the same......but without the mounts. Really THICK and heavy.
 
Its easy to do a clutch
But if the engine is stuck then you can't get the pressure plate off
To get the flywheel off
To get the bolts out

Then you unstick the engine. lol
 

I'm curious, if you were to pour five quarts of water into that pan while it sits on level ground, where the level of water would end up in that sump. I would only use enough oil to end up an inch below the sump line. I would then weld a u shaped baffle in there to keep the oil from all going to the front and up the sides. If its less than 4.5.. then id weigh deepening the sump by an inch or so.. or scrap the idea altogether and just let it be. Just a thought.

I'm not sure at all which pan I'll use yet. I have both the rear sump, which I've had for a while and this front sump I just got. At this point, I'm getting them all cleaned, primed and painted. That's a good idea to check the fill though. I'll likely do that. Thanks.
 
What you putting it in
Mine came with a rear sump...I know it was a swap
Not oe to the truck
Some guy needed a rear sump and traded
His was all clean and painted
Mine looked like shizt
