Hey guys, I need help. I asked this same question to Denny's drive shaft and they told me no such animal was made. Here is my plight:

7 1/4 rear trashed in my 67 Barracuda Fastback with 273 engine. I had a excellent 8" Granada rear that bolts right in place (I'm changing to 15" steelies and Duster brakes in front). Drive shaft length is good. I need a u joint that will mate the plymouth drive shaft to the 8" rear. The bearings on the Cuda shaft are darn close, but I don't won't close at 70 mph! It seems as though I've seen a post where someone had done this and their u joint was a NEAPCO 2-3100, but not sure. Somebody jump in here and tell me what I need other than a welded up shaft. I know, I know, a Ford in Mopar, I'm an old street rod guy and I have done worse! (chevy in a ford).

You need what is known as a "conversion joint"

You have the little/ big series Mopar?

You have the little/ big series Ford?

You need to measure your yokes/ U joints to see what you need

Here's one hit:

I just got back from Googleing, and found this handy interchange that shows Monarch/ Granada/ Versaille parts interchange:

Thanks for reply guys. I'm having a bad week. I'm going to pull the joints from both shafts this weekend and take them to a friends local auto parts place. We are going to do the measuring bit and see what we come up with. I think it is a 1310 to a 1330, but we will just do the visual and measure. Thanks for your help 67Dart and Supershaft. This is really a good forum. Could I get a bonus question from you guys? How does the middle gauge on my dash panel work? It is the vaccum / economy performance gauge. Is it electrical or vaccum operated? Haven't been under there yet. Thanks in advance. You guys are really are up on the Mopar stuff.

My bad, that educated guess should be 1310 to 7260, I'm very sleepy.

Actually it's both. The gauge itself is electrical and gets its input from a sender under the hood that is hooked to vacuum. Look for a small can with a wire and a vacuum line hooked to it. The wire goes to the gauge and the vacuum line goes to manifold vacuum.

Ive done this rear end swap in my 72 dart. My ujoints are the 7260 and if yours are the same then the neapco 2-3100 will work if you change the caps that bolt up to the ford rear end to 1 1/8 caps or the same size as the 7260 cap. Double check with the driveshaft place tho. Ran into the same problem looking for this conversion u joint which a couple of driveshaft shops say doesnt exist but found a shop that was familiar with this and changed the caps for me and its working out fine.

Thanks schwinger. There is a joint offered on ebay called a Mopar 2 1/8 X 2 5/8 conversion joint. It has the 1 5/64 (.078) caps and the 1 1/8 on the other studs. $30.00. I feel I need to put in a new joint, but in all reality, I could just change two of the bearing caps on the 7260 joint, right?

How do you like the 8" Ford? Does it have the 2.79 gears? Also, your Dart drive shaft worked out the same without any mods?
Thanks for everyone's input.

Thanks guys. I just called Craig at Driveshaft Specialist in Texas and he fixed me up. They are making up what I need for about $28.00 and a few bucks shipping.

Without checking the dimensions book, I would not bet money on this. Very few U joints share the same cross, especially between Ford/ Mopar

Even "back when" Precision used to show three numbers in various forms of "heavy duty" all for the same Spicer application. I don't even remember only two of them (Precision 360 -- 369) but even though they all interchanged, the crosses were all different.

Ran into that problem too 67dart273, Tried getting the cross from the neapco 2-3100 from napa which was a spicer 567 somthing and was completely different. I dont think changing the caps on the 7260 would work because on the ford rearend wich im using from a 76 granada i have about 1/8 of play on both sides of the caps where it fits between the two tabs that keep it centered on the ford yoke. i tried using halfass shims and workd for a couple of weeks but ended up destroying the ujoint.
Yea i have the 2.79 gears. Superhighway gears especially with the 5speed im using buts its good to go tho. Using the stock driveshaft, however its behind a 5speed and its alittle close but adiquet. Gona upgrade the driveshaft tho later on.
