Their early stuff was actually punk (early hardcore/thrash). The live show back then was not very good - Mike Muir just went from one side of the stage, holding the mic in one hand and his hand up by his head, back of the hand facing forward, to the other. And they had the "Suicidal Cycos" gang that would cruise the shows.

The musicianship was better than average, and different (esp guitar) at the beginning.

I like the "War Inside My Head" version on the 'Still Cyco After All These Years' remake of the first album

Thorogood....Maybe not under appreciated, nor under played but I never heard this on the radio. Found it wandering Youtube and now I cant get it out of my head. Cool compilation video too!

I like that song and the Valiant is a bonus!

I got this vinyl in today's mail, never heard this live album, recorded in '71. The band name Traffic does not appear on the front of the cover. Really like Dave Mason, Steve Winwood. Also like JJ Cale (way underappreciated imo), lastly, Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck together, stuff like Going Down.

The greatest punk-a- Billy band ever.
Saw them first at club 9:30 inWash DC.
This is the heart of rock and roll.
As Lux Interior said, If it don't sound dirty, you are doing something wrong.

Dammitall can't get link to paste...
Gurgle Garbageman by the Cramps on Y'all-tube.

I don't think this band has been mentioned yet but this whole album kicked *** back in the day and I still enjoy it.
That song (The singer in particular) by Tattoo Rodeo that @74Dusted posted reminded me a lot of this band, GIANT...
There's some really killer guitar work here.

And here's another band that comes to mind:

GIANT!!!!!! Nice call!!

here's one - they were a real "flash in the pan" - this tune rocks ..and is funny as hell - listen to the words

Slade were unappreciated in the United States, but not over here in Europe.

They were in the charts all over the early 70ies and in the 80oes again.

Yes.
See my caveat in post #99.
Status Quo was very big......... and the list is big.
Roy Wood (The Move). "And the beat goes on" too.

Seems to be a point of debate.

The original, better version.
Seriously. Crank it.

I'm pretty sure that Humble Pie might fall in the unappreciated category if we use charting as a measure.

Top 10 Humble Pie Songs
One could make a good argument that Humble Pie have in some ways lived out the prophecy of their name. Now frequently overshadowed by the same peers they once blew off the stage, the British group have indeed been forced to eat humble pie in the grand scheme of classic rock history.

Proto punk?
Yea. I know.
They had a hit.
But did he die rich and famous? Michael Jackon and his one glove did.
HOME
And the young ones probably never heard them.
Me? I took their record to parties with me.
Try and dance to it.

Some did.
Awkwardly.

My cousins band, Mr Resistor and the Incapacitators.

The Cramps played at a California mental hospital.

I can't believe this was 38 years ago.

I don't think anyone has mentioned Urge Overkill. This whole album, Saturation, is really great and I have no idea how many times I have listened to it in full over the years.

Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac in their prime.
Some of the audio in Oh Well Part 2 gets down to 18hz so you need decent equipment to hear it.
