When I purchased my Duster I found a few odd things about it's history. The car has a 318. The vin stamped on the dash by the windshield, in the drivers door, and on the engine itself, all designate it has having a 318. They all have the 466800 sequence number. Meaning it has the original engine. But the emissions decal on the fender beneath the hood states it as having a 198 Slant 6. I thought that was very odd. It has to be a mistake from the factory. Another odd thing is the fender tag. I found a site to decode it and according to the website which I belive was stockmopar.com, my car had a so-called "V9X" option - Meaning it came with a bumblebee stripe. But Plymouths never offered that. Only Dodges had those decals and that was in the early 70's. So that also has to be a mistake. Or the website is wrong. What does everyone think about that? Did someone just goof up?

It's possible the factory goofed! I drive a 1998 Dodge Ram that I bought brand new, when I went to buy touch-up paint one day I had to pop the hood and get the factory paint color and it said on the "modern day build sheet sticker" that my truck is Red...well.......Looks white to me! So yes, they goofed on my tag. The rest of the info looks correct.

"v9x" stands for black side stripe in '74, not bumblebee stripe.

I had a '69 Fury III that the vin said was a 318 and the vin was also stamped on the block by the pan rail as a 318 but below the left head on the block it was stamped 273 and casting number is a 273. It was wrong motor put in the right car so I have no doughts that the factory could mess up on a sticker if they can mess up with a complete motor. Still have the motor.
