upper ball joint popped out.

They pressed the ones out, pressed the new ones in, and they finally let go because there was no threads left. It would be tough to prove they were pressed in (although no marks on the flats of the new ones from an impact would be suspicious) and even small claims court would take you out a day of work and award you a judgement of what, the same shop has to repair your stuff? , not really EZ to sleep on. An upper A arm is cheap, Ball joint is not real expansive, and a small ball joint socket is available, even if you take the A arm and the ball joint to another shop and just have them use their socket to install it. Heck even a pipe wrench and a section of 1.5 inch galvanized for a breaker bar can install these as the new threads cut themselves in to the UCA. They are in there at about 200 ft/lbs so dont be afraid to lay into it. They made them bigger in the later years for some reason, probably because it was a weak point in an otherwise sound design.
