What size socket does it take to install the upper ball joint into the upper control arm? '72 Duster. Torque to 125 ft-lb or something else?
Nope. The ball joints have rounded corers between the flats. Like the shape of the socket. I have seen guys use Crescents and pipe wrenches. Nope. Not the proper tool.Maybe I'll see of the parts store has a loaner. I can't see buying a special tool for a single use.
Since the UCA is out of the car, I don't think I have to worry about clearance...hence, I don't think I need to squatty profile. If I had a 1 7/8" standard socket, that should work shouldn't it?

These can be hard to remove even with the correct socket. You should use a good air gun.
guessing you have large upper joints? i'll loan you one of mine if you want to pay the shipping.. Now, I'm rebuilding and I'd rather not booger things up. So I'm looking for the right tool.
There's a reason why those sockets are 3/4" drive.What.. lol...

Buy yourself a socket and for a case of beer, a truck shop will change them out for you. There's a reason why those sockets are 3/4" drive.
Thanks for the offer. I think for the price of shipping, etc. I will be as well off just buying one. First I'll find out if O'Reilly has a loaner.guessing you have large upper joints? i'll loan you one of mine if you want to pay the shipping.
