Getting ready to put together my new front end. I still have the upper control are suppoort sleeve bushings. They only go on the rear bushing and my 69 manual says "on Valiant models with 10 inch drum front brakes and Satellite police and taxi applications....blah...blah...blah...you need this sleeve." My car is a Barracuda with the 10 inch drum brakes. What real purpose does this sleeve serve, and has anyone ever put a front end back together without them and did you have any problems? Any input would be appricated as the maching shop I'm working with has no idea and I don't have and can't find an adaptor for my tool (uh...car thing...) to install them. The manual also says "when installing the upper control arms just slip them into place from the top...." That's easier said then done...sigh...
Any input would be greatly appricated.

Someone over at dodgecharger.com was asking the very same question.

In my rebuilding of Mopar suspension parts, i don't see those "bushing sleeves" that often.
They were supposidly a reinforcement sleeve on the rear facing bushing on (quote, unquote) heavy duty applications.
But i have seen lots of high performance vehicles that never had those sleeves ever installed.
Guess it was hit or miss, whatever cars really got them.
Personally, i never have reinstalled them on any of the few UCA's that i ever come across with them.
After all, were now talking 40 year old thin pieces of metal rings that are too far gone to ever be used again.

I should have put a photo of them in my previous reply.
They are something that the majority of people have never heard of.
They are not a serviced replacement part, and aren't in a box of upper control arm bushings.

Thanks all.....the ones that came off seem solid, however, according to my manual most cars with the same applications didn't have them. So you all confirmed my first thought....scrap metal...again, thanks. Lugnut.
